OpenHealthData does not collect, store, or sell personal health information. We do not handle protected health information (PHI) as defined under HIPAA. All data displayed on the Platform is publicly available, facility-level administrative data.

This Privacy Policy describes how OpenHealthData ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our platform at openhealthdata.com ("the Platform"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide: If you sign up for our waitlist, request a demo, or contact us, we collect your name, email address, organization name, and any information you voluntarily submit through our forms.

Automatically collected information: Like most websites, we may collect standard web analytics data including pages visited, time on site, browser type, and general geographic region. This data is aggregated and not linked to individuals.

What we do not collect: We do not collect, store, or process any patient health information, medical records, or protected health information (PHI). The Platform displays publicly available, facility-level CMS data only.

3. How We Use Your Information

Information you provide is used solely to:

  • Respond to inquiries and demo requests
  • Notify you of platform updates and launch information (if you opted in)
  • Improve the Platform based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. HIPAA and Health Data

OpenHealthData is not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA. The data we display is publicly available facility-level administrative and quality data published by CMS. It does not contain individual patient records, identifiable health information, or any data that could be used to identify a specific patient.

Users should not submit, upload, or share any patient-identifiable information through the Platform.

5. Data Sources

All healthcare quality and outcomes data displayed on the Platform is sourced from publicly available CMS datasets including Hospital Compare, Nursing Home Compare, Home Health Compare, Hospice Compare, and related CMS quality reporting programs. This data is in the public domain and freely available at data.cms.gov.

6. Cookies and Analytics

We may use cookies and similar technologies to understand how the Platform is used and to improve the user experience. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from using the core features of the Platform.

We use privacy-respecting analytics and do not share analytics data with advertising networks.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect information submitted through the Platform. However, no method of internet transmission is 100% secure. We encourage users not to share sensitive personal information through any web-based platform.
